IUCN and IUCN Redlist
The «International Unionfor Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources» is an organisation, dedicated to the conservation of global biodiversity. Other key phrases, mentioned on their home page are climate change, sustainable energy, human well being or green economy. It was founded in 1948 and has grown to become a collective of more than a thousand member organisations.
States, Government Agencies and different organisations are being offered membership. Individuals can apply to become a member of the six IUCN Commissions.
The IUCN is quite well known for its «Red List of Threatened Species».

Rettet den Regenwald/Rainforest Rescue
Rainforest Rescue is a registered non-profit organization which was founded in 1986 in Hamburg/Germany. It is internationally active and engages in the protection of the world’s remaining rainforests.
The homepage is presented in several language versions and offers information on the various problems of deforestation worldwide. It cooperates with other organisations, international as well as local initiatives.
Donations are welcome and can be made to support specific activities or just in general. Another way to become active yourself, is to sign their online petitions and letters of concern.

Palm Oil
To us it seems quite evident that the increasing palm oil production is at least partially responsible for the ongoing destruction of the peat swamp forests in South East Asia.
Of course there are numerous pro and contra opinions posted all over the internet.

Wetlands International
Wetlands International is non profit organisation with headquarters in the Netherlands and bureaus in several countries. It is dedicated to the conservation and restauration of the world’s wetlands, marches, peat swamps for sustainable use by the local people, keeping the biodiversity.
The international homepage is in English but the pages focussing on national or regional aspects are partially in respective languages — French, Spanish.
I’m not quite sure what to think of Shell Oil being a partner organization but anyway.

Borneo’s deforestation
There is a map showing the deforestation on Borneo since 1950.
Admitted that it is difficult to say wether this is a legitimate illustation based on facts — It appears probable, at least based on the inormation given by Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deforestation_in_Indonesia).

Care2 is an online community, founded in 1998 in the USA. It cares about a wide variety of causes such as ecological issues, animal welfare, education, human rights etc.
And it offers several ways to take action through petitions, volunteering, green jobs, donation etc.

BOS Foundation/BOS Deutschland
The Borneo Orangutan Survival foundation was founded in Indonesia as a non governmental organization to protect the Borno Orangutan and its habitats. It engages in the conservation of habitats, reforestation, research reintroduction of captured Orangs into nature.It is mainly active in Central Kalimantan/Borneo
The homepage is available in German and English and among other ways to support their work, it symbolically «sells acres» of rainforest to donors
